Activity Description

The committee will prepare an updated review and evaluation of the available scientific evidence regarding the statistical association between exposure to dioxin or to the herbicides used in Vietnam and various adverse health outcomes.

This review builds on the information developed by the IOM committees responsible for Veterans and Agent Orange (1994), Veterans and Agent Orange: Update 1996, Veterans and Agent Orange: Update 1998, Veterans and Agent Orange: Update 2000, Veterans and Agent Orange: Update 2002, Veterans and Agent Orange: Update 2004, and Veterans and Agent Orange: Update 2006, but focuses on scientific studies and other information developed since the release of these reports.

Currently, the committee is working on the seventh biennial update.
