Workshop Objectives:

Purpose: to provide an opportunity for participants to examine and comment on topics related to the draft quadrennial National Health Security Strategy (NHSS) being developed by the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHSS).

Focus: workshop attendees will be asked to propose and discuss innovative ideas and strategies for implementing the priorities identified by the NHSS. Conversations will focus on how to get a culture shift, including the necessary partnerships and incentives.

 The workshop will feature invited presentations and discussions focused on the following three principles: 

  • Assuring resilience by creating a culture change,
  • Strengthening the medical and public health preparedness system, and
  • Sustaining national preparedness.

Audience

Policy makers from federal agencies and state and local public health departments. Providers from the health care community, including relevant medical disciplines, nursing, emergency medical services (EMS). Community stakeholders including state and local public health officials, faith-based organizations, and civic leaders.
