The purpose of this IOM project was to produce a detailed plan to facilitate the development of data standards applicable to the collection, coding and classification of patient safety information. The plan will apply to both adverse event data and errors data.
In July, the committee issued a letter report on the Electronic Health Record Functional Model Letter. On November 20, 2003 the final Data Standards for Patient Safety report was released. You can access the National Academies Current Projects System page for more information.
