Rewarding Provider Performance: Aligning Incentives in Medicare will be released to the public on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at 11:00 am, in the Lecture Room of the National Academy of Sciences Building, 2101 Constitution Avenue, N.W., in Washington, D.C.

It is the third report in the Pathways to Quality Health Care series to be released by this committee. This report analyzes the promise and risks of instituting a pay for performance program within Medicare and lays out a series of recommendations for implementing such a program. This program is funded by the Department of Health and Human Services, through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

The program will begin at 11:00 am with a presentation of the report’s findings and recommendations. The session will then be opened for audience questions. Participants include Robert Reischauer and Gail Wilensky, co-chairs of the advisory subcommittee, and committee member Robert Galvin.

Those who cannot attend the public briefing are invited to listen to a live audio webcast; a podcast of the event will also be available. The webcast link will become available at the time of the event, at http://national-academies.org.

The webcast requires RealPlayer software, available free of charge at http://www.real.com/player - use the “RealPlayer & Basic” link to download the software. The audio webcast will be archived after the event.

Register for this event.
