Meeting 2. Evaluating Measures of Health Benefits for Environmental, Health, and Safety Regulation

The Institute of Medicine Committee to Evaluate Measures of Health Benefits for Environmental, Health, and Safety Regulation held a one-day workshop in Washington, D.C. on November 30, 2004 in room 100 of the Keck Building of the National Academies, 500 5th Street, NW. The workshop was open to the public. The workshop started at 8:30 am and will concluded at 5:30 pm. The committee heard presentations from several panels of invited experts who discussed the measurement of health-related quality of life (HRQL), ethical considerations in the use of HRQL measures and in cost-effectiveness analysis more generally, and research needs and directions in valuing health in regulatory applications of cost-effectiveness analysis (Access panel presentations at lefthand column).
