The Institute of Medicine Committee to Evaluate Measures of Health Benefits for Environmental, Health, and Safety Regulation held a one-day workshop in Washington, D.C. on November 30, 2004 in room 100 of the Keck Building of the National Academies, 500 5^th Street, NW. The workshop was open to the public. The workshop started at 8:30 am and will concluded at 5:30 pm. The committee heard presentations from several panels of invited experts who discussed the measurement of health-related quality of life (HRQL), ethical considerations in the use of HRQL measures and in cost-effectiveness analysis more generally, and research needs and directions in valuing health in regulatory applications of cost-effectiveness analysis (Access panel presentations at lefthand column).
