A joint Breast Cancer Research Foundation and Institute of Medicine symposium featuring the report entitled "Saving Women's Lives: Strategies for Improving Breast Cancer Detection and Diagnosis" was held in Washington, DC on June 14, 2004.  The symposium expanded upon the findings of the report and presented the recommended improvements that can be made in detecting breast cancer. 

The symposium proceedings were released at the end of 2004
