Cohort R81: Hepatitis B Print   Email

Title: Cohort R81: Hepatitis B

Summary: In 1942, a hepatitis epidemic arose among Army servicemen due to yellow fever vaccine lots contaminated with hepatitis B. Three groups were assembled to enable follow-up. Exposed-Ill are servicemen who were hospitalized during the epidemic with hepatitis. Exposed-Not Ill are servicemen who were injected with contaminated vaccine lots, but did not become obviously ill (potentially subclinical). Comparisons are servicemen who were vaccinated with uncontaminated lots.
