Cohort R62: Epidemiological Studies of Cancer Print   Email

Title: Cohort R62: Epidemiological Studies of Cancer

Summary: Following the start up of the Veterans Administration's Beneficiary Identification and Records Locator System (BIRLS), a multi-faceted project was performed to study the mortality of several conditions: alcoholism, asthma, splenectomy, nephrectomy, and orchiopexy. All groups were selected from Army hospital admission files for the years 1944 and 1945. Controls were matched on overseas vs. U.S. admissions, battle vs. non-battle casualty, trauma vs. disease, age, race, and rank (officer or enlisted) at time of admission.
