Title: Cohort R57: Occupational Exposure to Microwave Radiation
Summary: A cohort of approximately 40,000 enlisted naval personnel who were occupationally exposed to microwave radiation. The cohort is divided into two groups of approximately 20,000 people each: a high exposure group (electronics technicians, fire control technicians, aviation electronics technician) and a low exposure group (radioman, radarman, aviation electrician's mate). Actual exposure could not be measured. Cohort members were graduates of Class A naval technical schools during the period 1950 - 1954. Mortality data are currently being updated.
