Title: Cohort R45: Amputation
Summary: Twenty-one Veterans Administration hospitals reported all lower extremity amputations performed for ischemia during 1967. Surveys were completed on all amputees at specified times: 1) within 72 hours of surgery; 2) at discharge or at three months after amputation; 3) at one year; and 4) at two years after the last amputation in 1967. A total of 559 amputations were performed in 427 patients.
