Cohort A460: Blood Transfusion (Vietnam Era) Print   Email

Title: Cohort A460: Blood Transfusion (Vietnam Era)

Summary: This is a cohort of 1,903 battle injured and hospitalized Vietnam marines; 486 of which received between one and thirty units of blood, and 1,417 non-transfused controls. This cohort of Marines was constructed to follow-up on mortality and morbidity differences due to transfusion. Exposed veterans received blood transfusions during treatment for battle injuries during the Vietnam war. Controls were battle-injured military personnel from the same units as the cases, but who received no transfusions.
