The Consultant Group of the Dietary Reference Intakes was tasked with overseeing and guiding the creation of a single volume reference text that summarizes the series of eight Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) in English, and the translation of the report into French. 

This concise summary report of the Dietary References Intakes targets all stakeholders in the nutrition community, in both languages to replace Nutrition Recommendations; Report of the Scientific Review Committee (Recommandations sur la nutrition; Rapport du Comite de revision scientifique) published in 1990 and the 1989 10th edition Recommended Dietary Allowances summary.
