The second public meeting of the Committee on Methodological Challenges in HIV Prevention Trials was held on April 19, 2007, in London, England, in the Bloomsbury Suite of the Radisson Edwardian Kenilworth Hotel, located at 97 Great Russell Street, London, WC1B 3LB, United Kingdom. This was the second meeting of a series of meetings.
The meeting included presentations by principal investigators and statisticians responsible for late-stage efficacy and effectiveness trials of HSV-2 supression, male circumcision, STD treatment and diaphrams to prevent HIV. Experts also presented on issues of implementation and trial design.
The Committee will issue a report in late 2007 and will focus on recommendations to address methodological challenges, design issues, and novel approaches in HIV prevention trials broadly. For more information on the Committee, please visit the project website at www.iom.edu/hivpreventiontrials.
