It is often difficult to face a visit to the doctor, even if it?s just for a routine check-up. Many people find it stressful and even frightening to go to the doctor, especially when they are not feeling well. Worries about starting treatment for an illness or disease can get worse when people think about how much the treatment will cost and the possibility of the doctor making a mistake. And for minority patients, there can be more issues to think about?including whether their race or ethnicity will affect the kind of care they receive.
