Workshop on Quality of Care Issues for Mental Health and Neurological Disorders in Sub-Saharan Africa: Stakeholder Meeting

On September 2nd, the IOM Forum on Neuroscience and Nervous System Disorders held a US Stakeholder meeting for the Workshop on Quality of Care Issues for Mental Health and Neurological Disorders in Sub-Saharan Africa. Click here to view the workshop’s agenda.

Meeting Objectives:

The purpose of this meeting was to inform US stakeholders about the present state of brain disorder activities in sub-Saharan Africa based on information coming out of the planning meeting held in July, 2008 in Kampala, Uganda; to identify issues of concern to US stakeholders in the area of quality of care for mental health and neurological disorders in sub-Saharan Africa; and to solicit support from interested stakeholders to expand the scope of the workshop agenda and to increase participation of key stakeholders from all regions of Africa.

Workshop Planning Committee:

An ad hoc planning committee was appointed by the IOM to organize the workshop. It will include representatives from the Neuroscience Forum and others to assist in the organization and planning of this event.
