Menelas Pangalos is Vice President, Neuroscience Research, at Wyeth Research in Princeton, New Jersey. He previously served as Group Director and Head of Neurodegenerative Research at GlaxoSmithKline in Harlow, United Kingdom. Dr. Pangalos completed his undergraduate studies in Biochemistry from the Imperial College of Science and Technology and earned a Ph.D. in Neurochemistry from the Institute of Neurology, both at the University of London in the United Kingdom. He presents widely at on a broad range of topics at international symposia reflecting ranging from subjects such “Strategies for the novel treatment of Alzheimer’s disease” and “GABAB receptor molecular pharmacology” to “Challenges in neuroscience drug discovery.” Dr. Pangalos is on the editorial board of Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience, on the advisory board for the Wolfson Centre for Age Related Diseases (London University) and has served on the BBSRC Molecular and Cell Biology committee in the UK. He is also member of the American Society of Neuroscience, British Pharmacological Society and an Assoicate of the Royal College of Science. Dr. Pangalos has edited the book “Understanding G-protein coupled receptors in the CNS and has published over 60 peer reviewed articles in professional journals such as British Journal of Psychiatry, Journal of Neuroscience, Nature Neuroscience, The Lancet, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Neuroscience, Genomics and Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience.
