The Institute of Medicine's Board on Health Sciences Policy formed an ad hoc Committee on Clinical Trial Registries that planned and conducted a workshop on issues related to the establishment of a national registry of clinical trials. 

The workshop featured presentations and discussion of issues and potential areas of agreement and disagreement among various constituencies involved with clinical trial registries. Participants at the workshop will include patients, clinicians, researchers, journal editors, representatives from federal agencies, the pharmaceutical industry, and others involved with, and interested in clinical trial registries. A summary report of the workshop will be prepared in accordance with NRC policies.
