Submit a Nomination for the Rhoda and Bernard Sarnat International Prize in Mental Health Print   Email


The Institute of Medicine is now accepting nominations for the Rhoda and Bernard Sarnat International Prize in Mental Health. Please review the award criteria prior to submitting a nomination.

Any individual or organization may submit nominations for consideration for the Sarnat Prize.

 Nominations should include:

  • a detailed written description of the accomplishments of the nominee;
  • an explanation of why those accomplishments merit the award
  • description of the major contributions of the candidate;
  • evidence of the candidate’s overall national and/or international impact on the mental health field whether it be scientific, mental health services, or public policy domains;
  • a select bibliography (up to 10 publications) or other documentation of accomplishments; and
  • a curriculum vitae.  

Nominations should be sent as a formal letter, in an attachment, to sarnat@nas.edu

Nominations should not exceed four pages in length. Letters of endorsement in addition to the nomination will not be considered.

The deadline to submit a nomination is Friday, May 16, 2008.
