The IOM Committee on Respiratory Protection for Healthcare Workers in the Workplace Against Novel H1N1 Influenza A held a public workshop on August 11-12, 2009 in Washington, DC

  • to examine the emerging science and clinical experience base associated with nH1N1
  • discuss criteria used to delineate infection control guidelines
  • discuss criteria used to assess risk to the healthcare workforce and,
  • examine the evidence on effectiveness of personal protective equipment in preventing the spread of nH1N1 and seasonal influenza

 During portions of the day on August 11 and 13, the committee was in private session.
