Workshop: Meeting Psychosocial Needs of Women with Breast Cancer

Activity Description

The purpose of this workshop was to understand psychosocial responses of women to breast cancer and to evaluate tools used to assess psychosocial distress.  They also assessed what is known of the effectiveness of psychosocial interventions and reviewed models for delivering the psychosocial interventions. Finally, those participating in the workshop identified strategies to overcome barriers to delivering effective care and to propose research to close knowledge gaps.

Some of those in attendance were: consumer advocates, psychologists/psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, oncologists, primary care providers, insurers, health plan managers, educators, policy analysts, and researchers.
