Although there has been much attention to ideas for reducing health disparities at the national and international levels, it may be at the state and local levels that the most potential exists. This workshop highlighted state and local initiatives to reduce racial and ethnic health disparities. More specifically, the workshop:

• Highlighted successful state and local programs
• Presented ideas for successful cross-sectorial partnerships
• Described promising practices across state and local efforts
• Discussed strategies for determining success at the state and local levels.
