Meeting 6: Workshop on Developing Systems for Evidence Generation
- When:
- Thursday, February 12, 2009 (9:00 AM)
- Where:
- Beckman Center • 100 Academy Drive, Irvine, CA 92617 Map
- Topic(s):
- Biomedical and Health Research, Public Health
- Activity:
- Roundtable on Translating Genomic-Based Research for Health
- Board(s):
- Board on Health Sciences Policy
The Roundtable identified a need for a workshop to examine existing systems that create the kinds of resources and structure that facilitate evaluation of genome-based health care. More specifically, the focus of this workshop will address:
Presentations will be from invited experts to address four central questions related to the development of systems that create the kinds of resources and structure that facilitate the evaluation of genome-based health care.
Specific questions to address include:
- What are the practical realities of creating such systems?
- What are the different models?
- What are the strengths and weaknesses of each model?
- How effectively can such these systems address the kinds of questions about health outcomes the Roundtable is generating?
The goal of the workshop is to obtain information that can be used by the Roundtable to facilitate its future discussions and interactions around the issue of translation of genomic-based research for health, as well as to inform the broader public about the issue. An individually-authored summary of the workshop will be prepared by a designated rapporteur, and will be made available to the public.
