During June 2004, the subcommittee organized a meeting that began with a general overview of the history and structure of the EMS system. The workshop also delved into rural EMS infrastructure, reimbursement issues, performance metrics, EMS research, and the steps need to progress the EMS agenda for the future. A few closed sessions were held preceding and succeeding the open session in which the subcommittee disclosed conflicts of interest and biases.
