The IOM is privileged to recognize the extraordinary contributions of IOM members through several awards bestowed each year during the Annual Meeting.
The Walsh McDermott Medal is awarded to a member of the IOM in recognition of distinguished service to the Institute and to The National Academies over an extended period of time.
The Adam Yarmolinsky Medal is awarded to a member of the IOM from a discipline outside of the health and medical sciences. It recognizes distinguished service by a member who, over a significant period of time, has contributed in multiple ways to the mission of the IOM.
The David Rall Medal is awarded to a member of the IOM who has demonstrated particularly distinguished leadership as a chair of a study committee or other such activities in a manner that was particularly exemplary, demonstrating a commitment substantially above and beyond the usual expectations of a committee chair.
