This Institute of Medicine study examined research directions and certification and testing issues regarding the use of personal protective equipment during an influenza pandemic. The study, resulting in the report, Preparing for an Influenza Pandemic: Personal Protective Equipment for Healthcare Workers, focused on various types of personal protective equipment for healthcare professionals. Many of the topics have wider applicability to other industry sectors and the general population.
