Meeting

The Institute of Medicine (IOM) will convene a data-gathering workshop for its new study, Nutrition, Trauma, and the Brain, sponsored by the U.S. Army. This 2-day workshop will explore the role of nutrition in preventing, mitigating or treating central nervous system-related neurotrauma. Experts working in neuroscience and nutrition will consider traumatic brain injuries in military and civilian environments, short- and long-term treatment and rehabilitation of neurotrauma, nutritional interventions during treatment, and current research on the role of nutrition in the enhancement or impairment of recovery.  

Below is the outline of the agenda for the workshop:

June 23^rd:
Pre-workshop open session: Introduction and Discussion with Project Sponsors (11:00am-12:30pm)
Session 1: Background and Overview of Neurotrauma (1:40pm–4:45pm)

June 24^th:
Session 2: Clinical Treatment and Rehabilitation (8:30am–9:30am)
Session 3: Nutritional Considerations in Clinical Treatment (9:40am–12:10pm)
Session 4: Role of Nutrition in Resilience and Recovery (1:10pm–4:50pm)
