A seven-member committee planned a workshop that addressed the mental health issues that result as a consequence of terrorism. From the input of this workshop, the committee:
- Identified gaps in knowledge necessary to inform policies and procedures for planning, preparedness, and intervention.
- Identified gaps in planning, preparedness, and public health infrastructure.
- Identified a variety of approaches to intervention to limit adverse mental health consequences.
- Provided recommendations for options on how to optimize the public health response to long-term and short-term mental health consequences of terrorism.
