During this meeting presenters described why the problem of HIV/AIDS is critically important to African governments and institutions; the relationship between current and needed human resource and institutional capacities to address the future burden of HIV/AIDS in Africa; and the ethical implications of the difficult decisions that will have to be made as a result of limited resources for addressing these challenges.
