The symposium was conducted by Dr. Jeffrey Koplan, committee chair. The first session focused on an overview of local perspectives on childhood obesity in Kansas. The second session focused on integrating public health programs into schools and their successes and challenges.
The symposium then divided into three break-out groups, each of which focused on a specific sector that obesity prevention could be linked with: community and healthcare, the built environment, and industry.
The symposium concluded with a discussion of what more can be done.
