Members of the lifetime, annual, and/or planned giving societies have made significant and generous financial contributions in support of the IOM, the National Academies, and our initiatives.
Lifetime Giving
The Einstein Society recognizes IOM members and friends whose cumulative lifetime giving is $100,000 or more. Each Einstein Society member is recognized on a permanent plaque display at the National Academy of Sciences building in Washington, DC; on donor lists posted on the IOM members’ website and distributed to members; and on lists in the annual Report of the Treasurer. Einstein Society members are presented with an Einstein statuette, a replica of the famous Einstein sculpture by Robert Berks that sits outside the National Academy of Sciences building.
The IOM Society recognizes IOM members whose cumulative lifetime giving is $20,000 to $99,999. Each IOM Society member is recognized on a permanent plaque display at the National Academy of Sciences building in Washington, DC; on donor lists posted on the IOM members’ website and distributed to members; and on lists in the annual Report of the Treasurer.
Annual Giving
The Catalyst, Rosette, Challenge, and Charter Societies recognize gifts or pledges of $1,000 or more made during the calendar year by IOM members and friends. Memberships are renewed annually in these societies. All annual giving society members are recognized with their names on annual donor lists posted on the IOM members’ website and distributed to members, and on lists in the annual Report of the Treasurer. Membership is based on the following annual giving levels:
The Catalyst Society: $10,000 or more
The Rosette Society: $5,000 to $9,999
The Challenge Society: $2,500 to $4,999
The Charter Society: $1,000 to $2,499
Planned Giving
The Heritage Society recognizes IOM members and friends who have included bequests to the National Academies in their wills or have established deferred gifts benefitting the NAS, the NAE, or the IOM, including charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts, as well as beneficiary designation for IRAs and life insurance policies.
