 |
In June 2009, volunteers from across the National Academies built a playground at the D.C. Developing Families Center in Northeast Washington, DC, as part of Science Swings!, a program spearheaded by the IOM. The National Academies raised the funds and joined with KaBOOM!, a nonprofit organization that works with communities to create great playspaces for children, and the Developing Families Center, which offers care to hundreds of women and their families during pregnancy and early childhood, to put up the playground. |
