Donations from our sponsors and supporters enhance the IOM’s ability to answer the nation’s most pressing questions about health and health care. Explore the many ways to make a tax-deductible gift to the IOM.

IOM Membership

More than 1,700 members volunteer their time, knowledge, and expertise to help the IOM in its mission to advance the nation’s health. Membership is offered to 65 individuals each year, elected by current membership, and drawn from a range of health care professions.

Membership Focus

Seven members have been elected to serve three-year terms on the IOM Governing Council. Council members reelected to a second term include:

Drew E. Altman, Ph.D., Alan I. Leshner, Ph.D., Elizabeth G. Nabel, M.D., Philip A. Pizzo, M.D., Judith L. Swain, M.D., and Nancy S. Wexler, Ph.D.

The newest member to join the Council is Ellen Wright Clayton, J.D., M.D.
