Across the world, improving health is not merely an academic exercise; it is of utmost importance. We seek to make a real difference in the world by providing advice to decision makers. Through the actions of government and other organizations, our work has a large impact on the health of the nation and of the world.

Support Our Mission

Donations from our sponsors and supporters enhance the IOM’s ability to answer the nation’s most pressing questions about health and health care. Explore the many ways to make a tax-deductible gift to the IOM.

IOM Membership

More than 1,800 members volunteer their time, knowledge, and expertise to help the IOM in its mission to advance the nation’s health. Membership is offered to 65 individuals each year, elected by current membership, and drawn from a range of health care professions.

Membership Focus

President Harvey Fineberg will welcome members elected in 2011 at the October 2012 Annual Meeting. Among these new members are:
